A few weeks ago, our team of 12 USC students and post-grads had the privilege of going to El Salvador as part of Filter of Hope. Filter of Hope is a non-profit Christian organization that provides portable, point-of-use water filters to families living in poverty around the world. Their mission is to address both physical and spiritual needs by delivering life-saving clean water and sharing the Gospel.

Over the trip, 31 water filters were installed, 41 heard the Gospel, and 18 people made decisions to follow Christ! PTL! It was especially powerful to watch our students share their faith, some for the very first time, and experience the joy of seeing lives changed. Beyond evangelism, we were deeply encouraged by the local church and Word of Life staff, who modeled sacrificial servanthood and challenged us through messages on our identity in Christ, compassion in action, and comforting others as God comforts us. Their example left a lasting impression on our team.

Spiritually, the trip was transformative. Through rhythms of daily solitude, community, and ministry, our team experienced renewed joy, unity, and a deeper trust in God’s ways. Many students described the week as life-changing, learning to obey Scripture and experience God’s goodness firsthand. In response, we’re continuing this momentum with a 3-week “1-2-3 challenge” to keep practicing spiritual disciplines and community habits. We are so grateful to have been part of this trip and for your support through prayer and giving—it truly made an impact.
